Last Thursday, March 7th – World Book Day – saw me and Team Norm heading to Dundee for The Scottish Children’s Book Awards 2012 and I’m chuffed to bits to be able to report that The World Of Norm: May Contain Nuts was the winner of the ‘Younger Readers’ category!  It was an absolutely fantastic day.  Met lots of readers…signed loads of books.  What’s not to like? as they say.  It’s a particularly brilliant award to win as it’s voted for entirely by children – over 30,000 throughout Scotland on this occasion.  Big congratulations to fellow winners on the day – John Fardell for early readers – and Barry Hutchison for older.  See links for more details and pictures and stuff – including one of me which those of a slightly nervous disposition might like to avoid!  As if that wasn’t enough excitement for one day I also learnt (whilst still at the ceremony!) that May Contain Nuts had also won The Lambeth Phoenix Book Award which was pretty darn amazing too.  And on top of that, I was handed an advance copy of Norm 4 – aka May Require Batteries!  All in all an utterly bonkers and unforgettable day!  No pressure whatsoever next March 7th!
